Identifying Risks Early

Halos4Health is a subsidiary of Lowe & Evander, P.A., but it is not a legal tool, the practice of law or legal advice to its customer base. Rather, Halos4Health is a compliance risk assessment tool and program designed to help its customers identify their risks in the health care space so that they can develop their own comprehensive program to address identified compliance risks. Too often health care providers and professionals are exposed to various risks without any knowledge of that exposure. They don’t know what they don’t know, and that lack of knowledge can harm them and expose them to significant liability. Additionally, health care providers and professionals often don’t realize that these various risks can be interrelated and that exposure to one area of risk can lead to exposure in a number of other risk areas.

Halos4Health is designed to assist health care providers and professionals in identifying their potential compliance risk exposure. Halos4Health was born out of a principle that we want to help protect those that protect others. Thus, we have developed an overall comprehensive compliance risk assessment tool which consists of approximately 125 questions designed to help users identify their specific risk areas within the health care space and to stratify and score those particular areas of risk. Customers will use this overall comprehensive compliance risk assessment tool initially to generate a report which would provide risk stratification and score for the customer. That report then helps the customer identify the specific categories in the health care space where they are most at risk.

Once a customer has completed the overall comprehensive compliance risk assessment tool and reviewed their risk score and stratification report, the customer is ready to determine if they need to proceed with further specific compliance risk assessment tools. Halos4Health is in the process of developing those further specific compliance risk area assessment tools in the areas of general risk, medical records documentation, Stark Law compliance, Medicare billing, employment contracts, managed care contracting and third-party payor billing and contractual relationships, HIPAA (including both privacy and security), medical records release, professional liability/medical malpractice exposure, and marketing, patient brokering and anti-kickback concepts.

Halos4Health is designed to be used by medical doctors, osteopathic physicians, podiatric physicians, chiropractic physicians, physician group practices, ambulatory surgical centers, free-standing diagnostic imaging centers, independent labs, skilled nursing facilities, medical spas and physical therapy practices and providers.
